Farsley boss Neil Parsley admitted last weekend’s surprise defeat had come as a blow but he fully believes his club have what it takes to remain in the promotion race.

A 1-0 home loss to mid-table Warrington Town dropped Farsley from third to fifth in Evo-Stik League Division One North. They also have a tough trip this weekend as they head to play-off rivals Lancaster City.

“It was very unusual for this squad not to create,” said Parsley in reference to last Saturday’s game.

“We have had to analyse that this week, take it on board and address the situation.

“It was a defeat that definitely came at the wrong time because we were within touching distance of the top two. But I don’t think it will be too damaging in the long run as I think we will be fine. It is just a case of building another run now.”

With no glut of injuries hampering the squad and enough games left to earn the necessary points, Parsley is happy despite last week’s setback.

“We are all right injury-wise, which is all you want at this stage of the season,” he said.

“There is a lot still to play for and I’m sure the players will bounce back. There will be a lot of points dropped by all the promotion-chasing teams between now and the end of the season.

“I’m sure we will have more days like last Saturday – but not many, I hope. Even though we didn’t play well, it was one off those days when we should have scrapped it out and got a result, even a scruffy one.”
