Farsley 0,Warrington Town 1 Farsley dropped two places to fifth in the Evo-Stik Division One North following a home defeat to mid-table Warrington Town.

It was a disappointing result for the Throstle Nest outfit, who were within touching distance of the two clubs above them at the start of the day.

The visitors snatched the only goal of the game early on as they broke the deadlock in the tenth minute when a Matthew Cross corner went in via a deflection off a Farsley man.

They mustered a handful of other opportunities before the interval but were on the back foot in the second half.

However, they held out for their win as the home side uncharacteristically fashioned few chances. Simeon Bambrook shot wide when well placed and a corner from him hit a post before Tom Jackson’s follow-up effort was cleared off the line.

Farsley boss Neil Parsley was unimpressed with his side and provided no excuses.

He said: “It was a disappointing result and performance. We didn’t cope with the conditions as well as we should have and in this game we have fallen well below our recent standards.

“It would be easy for me to blame the extreme weather or the fact that we haven’t played for a fortnight but I’m not one for making excuses.

“The players have played in a strong wind before and gone a while between games.

“I don’t think Warrington did enough to deserve their win but the bottom line is we didn’t do enough to stop them from taking three points.”
