There were good home victories for Brighouse Town and Thackley as both clubs enjoyed goals galore in the Baris Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

Brighouse Town romped to a handsome 6-0 win over basement outfit Selby in a match which soon saw them in control.

They took the lead in the 14th minute when Selby’s Steve Barrett inadvertently got the final touch to a corner from the hosts.

Minutes later, Anthony Haigh lashed in a screamer from 25 yards and netted again just before the half-hour.

Just seven minutes into the second half, Joe Jaggar headed in from a corner and Tom Matthews added Town’s fifth soon after.

A penalty nine minutes from time completed the scoring as James Sutcliffe netted after Matty Howgate had been fouled.

Thackley raced into a three-goal lead in their 5-4 win over Barton Town Old Boys at Dennyfield.

Brice Tiani set Dempsey Smith up for the first, Smith put Mark Bett through to make it 2-0 and Luke Hudson picked up a pass from Bett to score the third.

Mike Gibson hit back for the visitors before Smith added his second but, on the stroke of half-time, Gareth Barlow reduced the arrears again. However, Thackley still had the last word of the half as Tiani turned provider for Matty Hall to score in stoppage time.

With a 5-2 lead, Thackley were unable to add to their tally after the break but Barton reduced the deficit as substitute Richard Medcalf netted six minutes from the end before Gibson grabbed his second in stoppage time.

Liversedge lost 4-1 at Parkgate but the heavy score-line was not a true reflection of the match as a quick-fire double midway through the second half slanted it in favour of the hosts.

Sedge took the lead through Dave Boardman but a Matthew Outram goal saw the home side level by half-time.

Nathan Swindles netted in the 65th and 67th minutes to shift the balance and Keir Hannity added Parkgate’s fourth in the final minute.

In Division One, leaders Pontefract Collieries stretched their advantage following a 2-0 win at home to Eccleshill United.

A 70th-minute penalty by Liam Ormsby and Duncan Bray’s goal eight minutes from time did the damage.

The Eagles saw two strikes disallowed and were reduced to ten men.
