Robert Snodgrass could be set to start against Ipswich on Saturday after his role as super sub at Crystal Palace last weekend.
Leeds were trailing 1-0 at Selhurst Park before Snodgrass equalised just seven minutes after being brought on for his first appearance since undergoing surgery on his appendix.
The Scottish international winger’s return to fitness is a timely boost for the club, who face the prospect of losing captain Jonny Howson to Norwich City.
Speculation also continues about the futures of striker Ross McCormack and midfielder Adam Clayton, who have been linked with Wigan and Bolton respectively.
Although Leeds are currently 11th in the Championship, a win against Ipswich could lift them back into the play-off places, depending on other results.
But United have failed to win in their last nine meetings with the Tractor Boys, who are without a win themselves in their last six matches.
Goalkeeper Alex McCarthy, who played six games on loan for Simon Grayson’s men recently, should make his third appearance for Ipswich after joining them on loan from Reading.
But Ipswich’s former Leeds midfielder Lee Bowyer is unlikely to return to his old stomping ground, having missed their last three matches with a groin problem.
Meanwhile, United States international Robbie Rogers has been granted a work permit for his move to Leeds.
He will sign an initial 18-month contract at Elland Road and looks likely to make his debut against Birmingham on January 31.
The deal for the 24-year-old Columbus Crew winger is now expected to be completed early next week after a hearing in London rubber-stamped the switch yesterday.
Rogers played in a behind-closed-doors friendly with Newcastle earlier this week along with trialist Matty Pattison, who scored in Leeds’ 2-0 win.
