Phil Parkinson has thrown down the gauntlet to Andy Haworth.
The on-loan Bury winger produced a bright debut against Morecambe and Parkinson is expecting to see more of the same.
He said: “Andy can make things happen in and around the box and there were good moments last week when he did that.
“He looks good in training and his attitude is first class, so let’s see how he does.”
Haworth admitted he felt the pace of his first game after being out of the picture with the Shakers. But he is looking to shake off the shock of leaking that last-minute equaliser.
He said: “It went all right but the lads were obviously disappointed with the draw. It’s a game we should have won.
“But training’s been good this week and confidence is still high. Hopefully we can kick on with a win this weekend.”
Opponents Burton have dropped out of the play-off places after three straight losses to open 2012 and their cause was not helped when centre half Tony James pulled a hamstring in training.
Boss Paul Peschisolido is already without Aaron Webster and top scorer Billy Kee. He will choose between Tom Parkes, whose loan from Leicester is up next week, and Nathan Stanton to step in.
Parkes was on the bench for their most recent defeat at Plymouth but has not played since breaking an ankle in August. Stanton suffered a shoulder injury on New Year’s Eve.
Peschisolido is not likely to call on club captain Darren Moore. The former Bantam has not featured since November 1 when he came off the bench in a defeat at Aldershot.
