Guiseley boss Steve Kittrick was presented with his Blue Square Bet North Division manager of the month award for December before last Saturday’s FA Trophy win over Stalybridge Celtic but he will not rest on his laurels.
The Lions face yet another big game on Saturday when Droylsden visit for a league game.
Kittrick led Guiseley to an unbeaten December, which kept them in third spot, but last weekend’s cup diversion and a postponed game in midweek has led to them dropping down a place.
They have been leap-frogged by neighbours FC Halifax Town.
However, the Shaymen have played two games more and are only two points above Guiseley.
Ahead of thids weekend's clash with the mid-table Bloods, the Guiseley boss remained quietly confident that his side will continue to put pressure on their promotion rivals.
Kittrick said: “We should have everyone fit for this game and, of course, James Walshaw will be available.”
Striker Walshaw has returned to the club after being released from his contract with Darlington, following their financial nightmare, and spending a month on loan with Halifax.
He was cup-tied for last Saturday’s clash with Stalybridge who, being in second place, are one of the Lions’ main promotion rivals.
“Wally has grown up a lot since his least spell with us,” added Kittrick.
“He was a full-time pro at Darlington, so it was his living and I understand he was one of the quiet lads in the dressing room and not the class clown like he could be in his younger days.
“He knows the score here and is prepared to work hard again. We have improved in the meantime and he came back here on the understanding that he would be fighting for his place alongside the other forwards.
“All of the lads - Gavin Rothery, Chris Senior, Danny Forrest, Joe O’Neill, Lee Ellington, Simon Baldry, Wally and the rest - know they have to perform at the top of their game to get a place in the team.”
