Salford City 2 AFC Farsley 1
The curse of the manager of the month struck Farsley’s Neil Parsley as his side suffered a surprise defeat at Salford City.
Parsley was handed the Evo-Stik Division One North accolade for November just days before the trip to mid-table Salford after a run that took Farsley from tenth to fourth.
Their reverse at the hands of Salford, who leap three places and into the top half of the table, saw them tumble back to fifth.
The visitors began well and an early chipped shot from Gareth Grant was saved by the home keeper. They went even closer with the next chance as Ben Jones’ shot on the quarter-hour mark rattled the crossbar.
Salford’s former Rochdale and Bradford Park Avenue striker Adam Morning broke the deadlock right on 30 minutes but Farsley were level by the interval. On the stroke of half-time Jones fired in from the penalty spot after Grant had been fouled in the area.
Morning netted another scuffed shot in the 64th minute to put the home side back in front and they sat back to defend their lead.
Their mission was successful even though Simeon Bambrook and Ryan Watson both saw late shots blocked.
Farsley have the chance to bounce back when they take on Durham City at Throstle Nest on Tuesday night.
