Bradford City stay on the title trail in the Northern Women's Combination - but only just.
With leaders Sheffield Wednesday and second-placed Newcastle seemingly unstoppable at the moment, City cannot afford to drop points but they nearly let two slip away from them at home to third-from-bottom Middlesbrough.
A visit to unpredictable Mossley Hill on Sunday promises to be no less fraught for coach Steve Winterburn, and he’ll be hoping for a full-strength side.
Against Boro, City took a 13th-minute lead through Kerry Zserdicky but with only five minutes remaining they trailed 2-1 and it was an 85th-minute strike from Bridie Hannon and an injury-time effort from Caroline Omboyi that saved the day and secured the points.
There were no favours for City from Huddersfield Town, who crashed 6-1 at home to Newcastle, while Wednesday beat Mossley Hill to stay top and they now go to Huddersfield Town on Sunday.
City's A team made it three wins out of three with a 5-3 success at Ossett Albion in the North East Regional Women's League Division One (South), while in the West Riding League Premier Division, Bradford Park Avenue had a superb 4-3 win over a previously unbeaten Harrogate Railway and face an early return clash in the League Knockout Cup at Horsfall.
Sarah Huby (2), Annie Roberts and Jade Nelson were the Avenue scorers.
