Phil Parkinson has vowed to come down hard on any Twitter leaks as City prepare for a crucial week in their season.

Players will be fined if they reveal any sensitive information on social networks after a run of recent tweets from those left out of the team.

With cup ties against Wimbledon tomorrow and Oldham on Tuesday before the crunch league clash with Plymouth, Parkinson does not want any unnecessary distractions.

He warned the squad yesterday that anyone guilty of Twitter outbursts will be fined a week’s wages.

Winger Jack Compton typed his frustration after finding out he was dropped for the Gillingham game. He was then axed completely from the trip by Parkinson.

Others have also put out tweets that have angered the club and while Parkinson has not banned the use of Twitter completely, he has left the players in no doubt about their responsibilities.

He said: “We do monitor what the players are saying on Twitter and we haven’t really had a problem with it. The first time was last week.

“If people want to go on and tell people what they’re doing, that’s fine. What we’re doing on the training ground has got to be kept to ourselves.

“Don’t tell anyone on Twitter that you’re not playing or you’re injured. If anyone puts anything out there which we feel gives something away, they will be fined a week’s wages. They understand that.”
