Ross Hannah is ready to get selfish to make sure he stays in City’s plans.

The strikers are in the firing line after last week’s bid to bring in Paul Benson.

Phil Parkinson has told the club’s current frontmen they must deliver in the next month ahead of the transfer window.

Hannah insists he is up for the challenge of showing he is worth a shot.

He said: “I didn’t really think about Benson signing. He would have been a great addition to the squad but I just saw him as more competition.

“I’m just thinking about myself and doing the right things for the team.

“When I get a chance, I want to stay in the side regardless of who’s coming in or going.

“We’ve got a big squad and everyone’s got to make it hard for the gaffer to drop people.

“If I put that shirt on and I’m not doing the business, I know someone will take my place. But that’s good to know because the competition keeps you on your toes.”

Hannah has started three of the last four games, although last week’s draw at Gillingham was only the third time he has lined up from the off with James Hanson.

“As soon as I knew I was playing, I couldn’t wait to get going,” he said.

“I’d not played up front with James much but I felt we were a real threat. The chances didn’t come my way but he had a few which unfortunately he couldn’t put away.

“To miss three chances isn’t great but we’ve had games when we didn’t really create anything.

“It’s better than the other week when we played Cheltenham and had only one shot on target in the first 60 minutes.”

Hannah is relishing the upcoming cup double header against Wimbledon and Oldham. But with a week’s break from the league before the crunch clash with Plymouth, he admitted it was vital they had come back from Gillingham with something.

He said: “It was important to get back on track again. We had the better chances and better play and didn’t look a side down the bottom.

“Ideally we could do with another league game to get out of the predicament we are in. But we’re a real cup team this season and I fancy us again to keep the run going.”

Defender Andrew Davies WILL be allowed to play on Saturday. Parkinson has confirmed that all his loan players are available for the FA Cup.
