Nahki Wells is confident he can erase his Wembley heartache by going back to the national stadium with City.
The Bermudian believes the Bantams have a great opportunity of reaching the final of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
They head to Oldham in the northern area semi-finals a week on Tuesday, with just two rounds standing between them and the showpiece event.
For Wells, it would mean a second successive visit to Wembley – only this time he wants to be on the hallowed turf and not stuck in the stands.
Wells was with Carlisle last year when they made the final against Brentford but failed to make the squad on the day.
“It was hard to take but I had a bit of a feeling that I’d be left out,” he recalled. “A few players came back from injury just before and they were important to the team.
“Just to be involved and part of Carlisle when they were in the final was great, even though I didn’t play.
“But it would be even better to do it with Bradford this season.”
Wells certainly fancies City’s chances, even though they are the only League Two side remaining in the northern section of the draw.
Having bagged the scalps of both Sheffield sides and Huddersfield already, he believes the underdogs have nothing to fear.
Wells said: “We’ve done well playing against higher opposition. Leeds beat us just in the Carling Cup but we haven’t lost to any League One clubs yet.
“Oldham are probably the toughest team that’s left in the northern area but if we can beat them, then I’m sure we can win again (in the area final) over two legs.”
