Recently-appointed Brighouse Town boss Paul Quinn made his debut for the club as they played out a creditable goalless draw at promotion hopefuls Staveley MW in the Baris Northern Counties East League Premier Division.
Town had a blank weekend but the inactivity did not show as they looked sharper than their hosts and deserved more than the single point they returned with.
This is even though they were reduced to ten men for the last 20 minutes after Nick Jagger was shown a red card.
In the same league’s Division One Cup (Wilkinson Sword Trophy) ALBION SPORTS enjoyed a big home victory over Glasshoughton Welfare.
The third-round tie at Horsfall Stadium ended in a 4-0 win for Kulwinder Sandhu’s men, who signed Brighouse centre back Steve Hollingworth this week.
Alex Cusack opened the scoring for Albion, with Karl Hall and Joe Brown also on target in the first half.
Substitute Anil Singh netted the home side’s fourth goal after the interval.
