Farsley AFC 1 Witton Albion 1
Farsley are breathing down the necks of Witton Albion after moving to within a point of the fourth-placed side with a superb victory at Throstle Nest.
Neil Parsley’s men appear to have found their form. This was their third straight win and clean sheet since the 2-1 home defeat to leaders Skelmersdale at the start of the month.
There were few chances but the ones that were created were good goal-scoring opportunities.
Witton’s Paul Booth went close with two headers and Farsley had the ball in the net just before half-time, only for Gareth Grant’s strike to be ruled out for a debatable offside.
Grant had another strike in the second half but this time his shot from the edge of the area was off target.
The match-winning goal came in the 77th minute, when Adam Muller stabbed in from close range to convert Matt Cooper’s through ball.
Mark Jackson was solid at the back for Farsley as the visitors pressed for an equaliser. However the home side should have put the gloss on the win when Dave Stead blasted a Muller cross over when it looked easier to score.
It could be a parting gift from Muller as the striker’s loan deal ran out after the game.
Boss Parsley is trying to negotiate another deal but the decision rests with the player and his parent club Worksop Town.
