Michael Flynn column
I would swap all our cup wins for league points right now.
While it’s great to be doing well in the JP Trophy and the FA Cup, I’d much rather sacrifice those four victories for another 12 points.
Last week’s win over Rochdale was very important after the way we’d played at home against Cheltenham. The supporters saw the effort that the team are putting in.
To beat another team from a higher league and keep a clean sheet was really satisfying. Another home draw in round two is all you can ask for.
We’re starting to show that things are coming together but we have to put some points on the board. Our league position right now is unacceptable and we must sort it out.
It’s going to be a good occasion on Saturday. Games with Rotherham always are and they’ll bring plenty of support, so that will make for a decent atmosphere.
Evo is coming back to Valley Parade for the first time and he’ll be trying hard to do well. But we’ve got to go out there and treat it as we should and hopefully carry on the good work from Rochdale.
Everyone’s still talking about Nahki’s goal last week and it was an unbelievable strike. Then he scores another one two days later for his country!
The way he strikes the ball is similar to Cristiano Ronaldo because there is very little backlift. He is an exciting player.
He’s also a very fit boy. He’s got the pace but he also has good endurance and his attitude has been spot on since he’s been here.
Nahki has got parts of the game to learn, like all of us. But as long as he keeps working hard and then comes on and does things like that, I’m sure the gaffer is going to give him more time on the pitch.
I know a few people have been laughing about Willo’s moustache on Twitter.
Unfortunately it’s an old picture – but he is still growing his hair because he wants to be able to braid it.
I think he was growing it until he started a game! Now he’s done that, it’s time to sort it out and get that head shaved.
