Bradford Park Avenue won through to the fourth round of the Doodson Sports Evo-Stik League Cup after beating Stocksbridge PS in a penalty shoot-out last night.
In a game of few chances, the tie ended 1-1 after extra-time.
Avenue’s Billy Law sent in a shot that grazed the top of the Stocksbridge bar in a goalless first half.
Just before the hour mark, Jimmy Beadle fed Law and he tucked a shot away. However, just four minutes later Jamie Muldoon headed home a Mark Ward cross.
Stocksbridge came close to wining it at the end of normal time but the extra period failed to produce a goal.
That left the sides battling it out from 12 yards, when one miss from the home side and a good save from Avenue keeper John Lamb saw them net just three of their five, while the visitors rattled in four.
