Two contentious penalty decisions robbed Whetley Lane of at least a point in their latest FA Umbro Vets Cup group game.
Lane trailed defending champions Burnley 3-0 at the interval but drew level and then had a strong penalty appeal waved away, before having one awarded against them in the last minute to lose 4-3.
Dean Calcutt, Michael Reynolds and Howard Cartlidge scored for Lane, with Martin Johnson and former Watford player Paul Atkinson also outstanding.
