Ashton Athletic 0, Silsden 2

Silsden moved up one place to 14th in the North West Counties League Premier Division after a 2-0 victory at lower mid-table rivals Ashton Athletic.

Cobbydalers spokesman Jim Rosser said: “It is our third win on the trot, our third clean sheet on the trot, we have scored six goals and gained nine points. It has been tremendous.

“We were on the back foot at times but James Nettleton has been commanding alongside Danny Husband in the centre-back role. Netts had a cracking game.”

There were a limited number of chances at both ends in a goalless first half but Silsden did more of the attacking after the break, although they broke the deadlock after repelling an Ashton attack.

Husband got a block in to prevent a Lee Barrett header troubling Cobbydalers keeper James Mann and a counter was launched, with Andy Lee on the end of the sweeping move that followed.

Five minutes from time, John Douglas drove in a low shot to ensure the points were heading back with the visitors.
