Simon Ramsden has put his shirt on giving City’s fans a dream date at Wembley.
The rejuvenated right back played his part in steering the club into the last eight of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in Tuesday’s penalties win at Sheffield United.
Ramsden, playing his first game since February, got so caught up in the wild scenes afterwards that he hurled his jersey into the crowd. Now he has set his sights on presenting the long-suffering supporters with a really special gift – a day-out in the final at the end of March.
Ramsden said: “Winning on Tuesday night wasn’t just for us. It’s nice to give the fans something to shout about for once.
“After (losing to Cheltenham on) Saturday, the majority of them were probably wondering if it could get any worse.
“To give them something to cheer about was great. I got carried away in the celebrations at the end and threw my top in there.
“Who’s to say we can’t go all the way and get to Wembley. It would be brilliant for them."
Ramsden tells of dark days when he thought he would never play again. Full story in today's Telegraph & Argus
