Silsden 1 Winsford United 0
A rare home victory earned Silsden a long overdue three points and it came against one of the top sides in the division.
Third-placed Winsford United must have headed to the ASDA Foundation Stadium in confident mood as the Cobbydalers hadn’t won at home since the last Saturday in September.
However, the last seven results have all been settled by the odd goal, so it was time that one went Silsden’s way.
They had to battle for it though as Winsford had them under early pressure with home keeper James Mann never far from the action. Mann made his first good save to deny Richard Bailey and soon followed it by keeping out a Danny Shannon effort.
Winsford’s keeper had to be alert to prevent Danny Bryan opening the scoring.
The deadlock was broken two minutes before the interval when a long ball released Andy Lee. He rounded the keeper and his low shot from an angle just beat covering defender Sam McKay as he slid in to attempt a clearance.
