Eccleshill United’s reward for claiming a midweek scalp in the West Riding Cup is a second-round home draw with Farsley.
The Eagles had arguably the best result in the previous round as they travelled to Goole AFC – who are two divisions higher up the non-league ladder – and won 2-1, despite playing for 75 minutes with ten men following Craig Laight’s sending off.
Now United will be looking to beat another team from the Evo-Stik League second tier when they host Neil Parsley’s men in a tie scheduled for Tuesday, November 29.
The tie of the round sees Brighouse Town making the short journey to the Shay to take on FC Halifax Town. The two neighbours regularly meet in pre-season friendlies but this will be a rare competitive fixture.
Bradford Park Avenue enter the fray after their bye in the first round as they travel to Glasshoughton Welfare. Holders Guiseley journey to Harrogate Rail-way Athletic, Liversedge head to Garforth, while Albion Sports’ reward for beating Selby Town is another home tie, this time against Ossett Albion.
Second round draw: Wakefield v Harrogate Town, Armthorpe Welfare v Askern Villa, Glasshoughton Welfare v Bradford Park Avenue, Harrogate Railway Athletic v Guiseley, Albion Sports v Ossett Albion, Eccleshill United v Farsley AFC, Garforth Town v Liversedge, FC Halifax Town v Brighouse Town. Ties scheduled for the week commencing November 28.
* Bradford Park Avenue’s opponents tomorrow, Stocksbridge Park Steels, have parted company with manager Gary Marrow.
Marrow resigned from his post after a difficult start to the campaign, which sees Steels currently in third-bottom place in the Evo-Stik Premier Division.
