Tyersal found the boot was on the other foot as they bowed out of the West Riding County Amateur League Premier Division Cup.
Two weeks previously the Bradford club had loosened Fields Sports & Social’s grip on the Bradford & District FA Cup when they beat them 3-2.
But on Saturday defending champions Tyersal had the tables turned as they lost at home to Brighouse Town, who booked a place in the last eight with a 2-1 victory.
Anthony Brown gave Brighouse an interval advantage and, after Graham Sides had equalised early in the second half, Matthew Parker netted the winner from the penalty spot.
Campion won by a similar margin at Lower Hopton as goals by Ben O’Melia and Carl Trennery outweighed Andy Clough’s consolation.
Wibsey were comprehensively outplayed 5-0 at Bay Athletic and Steeton were edged out 3-2 at Kirkburton despite the best efforts of Andy Holden, who scored both replies.
A second-half strike from Gibril Bojang earned Littletown a 1-0 home win over Hall Green United while an all-Huddersfield clash saw Storthes Hall need extra time before seeing off hosts Marsden 4-3.
Meanwhile, one top-flight league match ended 3-0 to Ovenden West Riding at home to Golcar United as goals from Simon Rawnsley (2) and Iwan Heeley lifted their side top of the table.
Overthorpe and Salts, who met in the semi-finals of last season’s Division One Cup, played out a classic first-round tie this time.
It ended 4-3 to Overthorpe with goals from Scott Hargreaves, Lee Brook, Jonathon Walton and Lee Bennett. Jonny Cunnington netted twice, including a penalty, and Tom Hickey once for Salts.
Bronte Wanderers found themselves up against unbeaten league leaders Lepton Highlanders and were soundly beaten 6-0.
Dudley Hill Rangers also made an early exit as Wakefield City returned home with a 2-1 victory, Adam Sharkey replying to goals by Rob Bloomfield and Lee Vigars.
In the league, Ventus-Yeadon Celtic missed the chance to move up to third place behind Lepton and Overthorpe when they lost for the second time in three weeks to Bay Athletic Reserves. Courtney Allette’s hat-trick and Declan James led the way in a 4-1 outcome.
Relegated duo Hunsworth and Tingley Athletic both won to boost their chances of challenging for promotion back to the Premier Division at the first attempt.
Hunsworth brushed aside Storthes Hall Reserves 3-0 while Tingley had a second-half goal by Andy Lockhart to thank for beating Westbrook YMCA 1-0.
