The lead swung like a pendulum as Thackley shared the points in a 3-3 draw at Pickering Town.
The Dennyboys went in front twice but had to settle for a point as they moved one place up the Baris NCEL Premier Division table to seventh.
They will be kicking themselves though as they failed to convert a penalty which could have tipped the balance in their favour.
Despite it being a high-scoring contest, the deadlock was not broken until midway through the first half when Ben Hardy cut inside before beating the home keeper.
Town responded almost immediately when a Chaz Wrigley shot deflected over Matt Convey.
Convey was beaten again by a long shot from the home side’s Richard Batley through a crowd of players to give the hosts a half-time lead.
In the second half a Callum White cross, following a surging run by Matt Morgan, was headed in by Nicky Matthews as Thackley levelled.
Hardy was bundled over in the penalty area in the 57th minute and he got up to take the spot-kick himself but hit it straight at the home keeper.
Hardy made amends minutes later with a superb turn and shot from the edge of the area but Pickering snatched their equaliser through Jonathan Brown six minutes from time.
Neighbouring rivals Brighouse Town were blown away in an eight-minute spell early in the second half as they went down 5-0 at Barton Town Old Boys.
The home side had a one-goal lead at the break after Ashley Lattimore’s 16th-minute strike.
But the major damage was done when Gareth Barlow, Richard Metcalf and Danny Buttle all ran in goals soon after the interval. Metcalf added a late penalty to compound Town’s misery.
Liversedge were also left pointless from the visit of Winterton Rangers but the scoreline at Clayborn was nowhere near as painful.
Liam Wilkin gave Rangers an early lead, netting in the fourth minute, but Nathan Cartman levelled in the second half.
Just as it seemed Cartman’s goal had bagged Sedge a point, Wilkin hit a last-gasp winner just into stoppage time.
