Albion boss Kulwinder Sandhu was delighted with his team’s performance at Horsfall Stadium in midweek but he is looking forward to tomorrow's ‘home’ game even more.
They needed better facilities to make the step onto the league ladder and elected to ground share with Bradford Park Avenue at Horsfall.
With Avenue not only being the higher-ranking club but also long-term tenants, their fixtures take precedence, which is something Albion have to work around.
The club are quite happy with the arrangement but it does bring difficulties. Sandhu said: “We have had one home game on a Saturday and it is almost November.
“A third of the season is almost over and tomorrow is only our second Saturday home game, which is very hard on us as a club. Financially it is very difficult because we haven’t been getting anyone through the turnstiles.
“That means we have had a lot of away games, and when you factor in all the transport costs and think that we have had no money coming in during that time, it has been a difficult start for us.”
Eleven of Albion’s first 18 games in all competitions this season have been away, and of the seven home games only the win over Appleby Frodingham on August 20 was on a Saturday.
Despite enduring an almost nomadic existence, the progress on the pitch has been good.
Results have been excellent and Wednesday’s 3-0 win over Hallam took Albion back up to joint second in the Baris Northern Counties East League Division One.
Sandhu added: “We are new to this league – new to non-league football altogether - and it is a big step up so we need the money coming in. The gate figures for midweek games are obviously lower than they are for Saturdays.
“We are learning all the time and I hope we are improving. It will be interesting next Wednesday when we play Selby Town because they are a division higher than us.”
Albion were handed home advantage in the first round of the West Riding County Cup against the North Yorkshre club.
