Bradford Park Avenue will be taking nothing for granted as they seek to reach the first round proper of the FA Cup on Saturday.
John Deacey’s side know they will need to be at their best when they travel to Kidsgrove Athletic in the fourth qualifying round.
Their hosts from Evo-Stik Division One South may be a step below them on the non-league ladder but have already beaten Blue Square Bet North outfit Boston United in reaching this stage.
And while they are currently 16th in the table, they have played the fewest number of games in the division and remain unbeaten at home.
The midweek 4-1 FA Trophy replay defeat at Worksop was not the best preparation for Avenue but Deacey is expected to field a stronger side at the weekend.
Avenue press officer Lewis Sale said: “It wasn’t a 4-1 game. The scoreline flattered them.
“They deserved to win on the day but not by that margin because it was a close game with few chances to be honest.
“There were some changes to the side as well. John wasn’t disrespecting the competition but lots of people were wondering if his selection for the replay was a pointer that he had one eye on tomorrow’s game.”
Skipper Rob O’Brien, who was injured in the first game against Worksop, and Martin Drury were both left out of the squad in midweek but are poised to return.
Sale said: “John is hoping Martin and Rob will be ready for this game. Rob has had time to recover and Martin has been fully rested after missing both of the games against Worksop.
“Amjad Iqbal went down with what looked like a hamstring injury on Wednesday but was taken off as a precaution.
“Jimmy Beadle played the full game and looks match fit now.”
Striker Tom Greaves returned to the starting line-up on Wednesday after missing Saturday’s game with a facial injury, while Matty Plummer was also involved.
* Guiseley are without a fixture on Saturday as their scheduled opponents Nun-eaton Town are still involved in the FA Cup.
