Curzon Ashton 2, Farsley 0 Farsley’s interest in this season’s FA Trophy was ended in Lancashire tonight as they bowed out to Curzon Ashton in their first qualifying round replay.
A goal in each half secured the hosts a home tie against Belper Town in the next round.
They snatched the lead late in the first half and, though Farsley dominated for long spells after the break, Curzon’s progress was cemented with a second strike five minutes from time.
On a blustery night, the elements worked in the home side’s favour when a hopeful punt by Jordan Greave from near the halfway line found the Farsley net.
Farsley had a Ryan Watson effort cleared off the line and a shot from Gareth Grant was well saved.
Just minutes from time, Matthew Purcell squared the ball for Chris McDonald, who had scored the opener in the 2-2 draw at Throstle Nest last Saturday, and he secured Curzon’s win.
Meanwhile, Bradford Park Avenue were given an away trip to Radcliffe Borough in the second qualifying round if Avenue win their replay at Worksop Town on Wednesday.
Eccleshill United were drawn at home to Armthorpe Welfare in the second round of the FA Vase.
