Phil Parkinson insists City’s away record is not causing any travel sickness.

The Bantams are yet to win in the league outside Valley Parade and face back-to-back trips to Macclesfield tonight and Swindon.

But Parkinson, lifted by Saturday’s victory over Northampton, does not sense any added tension going on the road.

He said: “It’s something we’d like to rectify but we go to Macclesfield confident with seven points out of the last four games. That’s a good return – keep that going and we’ll soon find ourselves moving up the league.

“You look at the last three away games and Hereford was poor but, before that, we were very good against Huddersfield and Burton so we’re certainly not too downbeat about our form.”

Parkinson is likely to recall Michael Flynn after his one-game ban.

“He’s a leader and a very good influence in the dressing room,” said the manager. “Flynny’s a big player for us.”

Macclesfield are unbeaten at Moss Rose since the opening day and claimed their sixth clean sheet in Saturday’s win at Crewe.

Parkinson said: “They are on a good run because they’re a decent side. Equally, if we set ourselves up to be strong and resilient and take that mentality with us, then it gives us a great chance.

“We’ve had a lot of players come in late but now they’ve got game time under their belts.

“You’re not going to turn a team which has struggled into championship-winning form overnight but I know we’re improving gradually over a period of time.”

The City chief has welcomed Dave Hanson’s appointment as head physio.

Hanson had been working with Halifax as well as part-time in City’s school of excellence. He also had a spell at Manchester City.

Parkinson said: “We all want to be successful at the club and one of the important factors in that success is getting a medical department right. If it’s not, that can cost you points over the course of the season.”

Parkinson added: "This is no slight on Mark Cox, who has done a good job but has only been able to commit to two days a week because of his private practice."
