Eccleshill 1, Thackley 0 The Eagles are flying again after winning the closest-fought derby with the Dennyboys for many a year to reach the second round.
While the visitors will rue missed opportunities, they would have to concede that Scott Price’s 70th-minute strike was worthy of winning any game.
Home keeper Thaj Bell made a string of class saves, including a first-half penalty. Thackley’s Chris Davey was fouled in the area but Bell saved Dean Walters’ spot-kick.
Thackley came on strong in the second half but were undone following a good break by the hosts. A superb shot from Charlie Flaherty was tipped behind by Matt Convey. From the corner, Price fired in an unstoppable volley from 25 yards.
Thackley spokesman Mick Lodge said: “We had our chances but good luck to Eccleshill. We wish them all the best and hope they get a good draw in the next round.”
