Phil Parkinson believes City are starting to understand what it means to play at Valley Parade.
Saturday’s come-from-behind win over Northampton was their second straight home success for the new manager as they bounced back from the defeat at Hereford.
And Parkinson was delighted at the way they stuck at it after falling behind to a wonder strike.
He said: “You’ve got to give the lads credit. After losing last week and going 1-0 down at home, it could have gone either way.
“But we responded well. You could feel that the lads weren’t going to accept defeat on our home patch.
“That’s the sort of mentality we need here. We’ve shown it really well in the last couple of games at home.
“It was a really important victory. I don’t ever like saying as a manager that it’s a must-win game because it creates tension.
“But I had said to the boys it was a must-perform day and spelled out the factors we need to do well to get this result. One of the biggest factors you need is that resilience we showed.”
Craig Fagan, wearing the captain’s armband, levelled with a penalty before his strike partner James Hanson headed the winner seven minutes later.
