Champions West Bowling started the defence of their West Riding County FA Sunday Cup in a convincing manner yesterday, thrashing Wharfedale Premier outfit Yeadon Westfield 11-0, with Joe Jagger and James Wasley both hitting hat-tricks.
Buttershaw White Star easily beat Crooked Billet in a game which they dominated from the start. Goals from Ben O’Melia (2), Steve Hollingworth and sub John Selby saw White Star through to the next round.
Cuedos Rangers beat Mount Tabor, from the Halifax League Premier Division, 6-3 in a thriller but they had to do it the hard way.
The hosts were two down at the interval before Daniel Duckworth scored early in the second half and then skipper Bryce Waddington restored parity with a left-footed piledriver on 75 minutes.
The visitors regained the lead again in extra time but Paul Lyons equalised again early in the second half of the additional period.
Lyons added a second to give the hosts the lead for the first time on 110 minutes before further goals from man of the match Jonathan Hicks and Simon Rawnsley settled the tie.
There was a seven-goal thriller in the Peel Park v Netherton match. After a lively opening 20 minutes, Peel took the lead through a well-worked goal from Ryan Dunne, only for the visitors to hit back with two goals of their own to lead at the interval.
In the 70th minute, the hosts levelled through substitute Anthony Hannan with a goal from near the half-way line.
The visitors again took the lead five minutes from time but Peel equalised straightaway through Matthew Hannan, and it was left to Dunne to finish matters with the last kick of the game to send the Bradford team through.
The turning point in the Relay Recruitment Rovers against Otley Town game was when Abbos Sadeghian scored two goals either side of half-time.
This was before Robert McDonald netted his second to give the Bradford team a 6-2 lead, substitute Tuseif Arshad scoring the goal of the game in a 7-3 victory. Baildon Trinity had a fine 4-1 victory at Cutsyke, and Queensbury also won on the road with a 3-0 victory against Hollins Holme, with 17-year-old manager's son Ross Mason bagging a hat-trick.
Dudley Hill Rangers had a convincing 5-3 victory at Shipley Town, and in one of the all-Bradford Sunday Alliance League ties, Thornton United beat Ventus United 3-1, with James Hall bagging a brace.
Oakworth continued their fine start to the season by ending Leeds Premier League leaders Hope's unbeaten start to the season.
In the West Riding County FA Sunday Trophy, Cuedos Rangers Reserves beat Leeds Maccabi, Mark Buxton scoring a hat-trick in a 5-1 victory.
Prospect had a 4-2 victory at Old Pond Halifax, while Aire Athletic had a fine victory at Ripon United, winning 4-3, and Beldon Sports went on a goal spree against Hebden Bridge, winning 8-2.
In Bradford Sunday Alliance League Division 1A, top-of-the-table Bolton Woods Social beat bottom club Dog and Gun but the cellar dwellers put up a fight before going down 5-1. John Singh had a brace for Buttershaw Celtic in a 4-2 victory at Woodman Wibsey.
Division 1B Lane Ends surprised leaders Stanningley Albion as the teams shared four goals in a good match, and a brace from Jamie Buchan helped Wrose Bull to a 3-1 victory over George.
In Division 2A, Matt Dempsey hit five goals for White Hart in an 8-1 thrashing of Cue Gardens, while Canterbury 2010 won a seven-goal thriller 4-3 against Fleece Clayton, thanks to a hat trick by man of the match Shamas Aslam Grass Greener United goalkeeper Scott Etherington scored the winning goal direct from a kick out against Cycling in a 4-3 victory in Division 3A after the visitors had taken a 3-0 lead.
In Division Four, debutant Shaun Coe hit five for Bridge against Thornton United Reserves.
