Farsley 6, Salford City 0
Farsley jumped up two places to third when they spanked visitors Salford City with six of the best.
The deadlock was broken in only the sixth minute, though there was a suspicion of handball as Gareth Grant raced down the wing and collected a through-ball. The striker continued his run and cut inside before slotting home from just inside the area.
A late first-half double for the home side virtually ended Salford’s challenge. In the 38th minute, Ryan Watson got the ball deep inside the visitors’ area and lashed in a shot and then former Bantams striker Grant grabbed his second with an effort similar to his first.
Early in the second half, skipper Mark Jackson netted a close-range header and Steve Mallory soon added Farsley’s fifth, again from a header following a corner. The lively Dave Stead completed the rout when he outstripped his marker three minutes from time and raced on before firing home.
Farsley press officer James Grayson said: “It was a very good win. The lads totally destroyed a team who were tenth in the table but the bonus for us and Neil Parsley (manager) was that there were no new injuries.
“We have Josh Radcliffe and David Briggs coming up for suspensions soon after they were both sent off in the 2-1 defeat at Clitheroe in the previous game. Neil will need most of his squad to cover for them because both were straight red cards and will carry three-game bans.”
