Bradford City go into their FA Northern Women’s Combination game against Liverpool Feds at Thackley FC on Sunday looking to bounce back from a second defeat in three outings.

A 1-0 setback at the hands of South Durham saw City surrender top spot, dropping to third, in what looks like being a tough promotion battle.

Goalkeeper Mel Garside-Wight and skipper Bridie Hannon emerged with some credit from the South Durham game.

But the early-season goal touch needs to be revived quickly if a return to the FA Premier League is to remain in their sights.

Fifth-placed Huddersfield Town, 1-0 winners at Mossley Hill last time out, go to Stockport County only three points adrift of new leaders Sheffield Wednesday, who visit bottom club Wakefield.

In the North-East Regional League Premier Division, Guiseley fought back well from 3-0 down at leaders Hull City – with an own goal following a Sarah Dickens cross and one from Caroline Cropp – but failed to salvage a point despite twice hitting the bar.

It’s the Women’s FA Cup first qualifying round this weekend, with Bradford Park Avenue – boosted by a 3-2 win over Ossett Town – hosting West Riding Premier Division rivals Keighley, while Brighouse are at home to Pendle side Padiham and Kirklees entertain Crewe Alexandra.

Bradford City A and Wakefield Reserves both picked up their first point of the season in North-East Regional League Division One South.

The sides drew 1-1, Katie Suttron scoring the City goal, but it looks like being another tough game when they take on Keepmoat at Apperley Bridge.

Rothwell still lead the way in this division, drawing 2-2 at Ossett Albion. But they are in FA Cup action this week with a trip to Scunthorpe, while Albion go to Barnsley.
