Bradford Park Avenue boss John Deacey is hoping to have some of his more experienced players available tomorrow night as the club looks to bounce back from a disappointing result at the weekend.

Avenue could have regained top spot in the Evo-Stik Premier Division as the leading duo went head to head at Horsfall Stadium on Saturday.

A 2-1 defeat to Northwich Victoria saw them drop from second to fourth and go from possible leaders to five points adrift of the summit.

Avenue journey to second-from-bottom Stocksbridge PS tomorrow, and Deacey wants someone in alongside Nathan Hotte in midfield, although he knows his defence will be weakened by the absence of Martin Dury.

The left back is serving a one-game suspension for accumulating five yellow cards.

Deacey said: "There will be changes from Saturday’s team, and not just because of the result. James Knowles will be involved and I’m hoping Matty Plummer will be ready to come back in.

"We will be without Martin, so that won’t help, but we will be stronger in other areas.

"I think the game passed a few of our midfielders by against Northwich. It wasn’t a great performance from anyone really but the centre of the park needed a bit more guile for me. We have missed some big players recently."

If Knowles returns to the centre of defence, it will release Adam Clayton, who has been one of Avenue's most consistent players even playing out of position, to revert to midfield.

Ross Daly has been filling in at right back, so if Plummer returns Daly could also be alongside Hotte, skipper Rob O’Brien and Clayton in midfield.

Saturday’s goal-scorer Aiden Savory and Tom Greaves were substituted in the second half of the weekend defeat but Deacey claims both will be fit for tomorrow night.
