The Bradford Sunday Alliance League had a rest from cup football yesterday, and there was little to choose in the Premier Division’s top clash between Westwood Park and champions West Bowling.
Chris Wood gave Bowling the lead in the first half, only for John Penn to equalise before the break.
Both sides had chances to win the match but it took a Joe Jagger second-half brace to give the champions the points.
Bolton Woods had a brace from Andy Howard in their 6-1 victory over a good Dudley Hill team who were in the match until they had a player dismissed.
Buttershaw White Star raced into a 3-0 lead against Queensbury with goals by Andy Benjamin, Terry Ryan and Ben O’Melia in the first half before running out easy winners after O’Melia added his second halfway through the second period.
A brace from Talat Mahmood put Relay Recruitment Rovers 4-0 up in the first half against Ventus Sports.
The visitors pulled a goal back in the second half but the hosts held out to claim all three points.
Mill Lane raced into a two-goal lead against Wyke Wanderers but Gary Lupton pulled one back before the interval. However, in a commanding second-half performance, the home side added three goals without reply.
For the second successive week, after a cup epic, Cuedos Rangers and Thornton United fought out a thriller at Harold Park.
Both teams had chances before Danny Walker opened the scoring for the visitors. The hosts replied with strikes from Paul Lyons and a lobbed goal from Simon Barnsley.
After an even half-hour, Peel Park broke the deadlock through Matthew Hannan against Manningham but a defensive mistake just before half-time put the visitors level.
Just after the break, Allan Morley hit a superb hat-trick for the hosts and man of the match Hannan one more in a well-deserved 5-3 victory.
White Eagles ended Sandy Lane’s unbeaten run with a well-fought victory.
The home side took a deserved 2-0 lead midway through the second half through Leon Reid and Andy Lockhart, and Eagles keeper Andy Smith saved a penalty.
