Silsden 2 Ramsbottom United 1
A surprise but welcome three points lifted Silsden two places up the table.
High-flying visitors Ramsbottom were strong favourites but the Cobbydalers are their bogey side.
There was no sign of a possible upset in the first half as the visitors dominated but Silsden saved their best for last.
Ramsbottom took the lead on 30 minutes through Philip Dean. He was one of two wingers the visitors had that ripped Silsden apart and created most of the chances. They failed to make the most of them though and paid the price.
Into the last 20 minutes, Tim Hird rifled a shot home from 25 yards into the top corner.
Then, ten minutes later, the comeback was complete when the visiting defenders hesitated instead of dealing with a bouncing ball and Andy Lee took advantage to score the winner.
Even then there was still a nervous moment for the Cobbydalers as Ramsbottom forced one last chance three minutes into injury-time. Home keeper James Mann, who had made at least half a dozen top-drawer saves, was beaten by a shot but defender Arly Barnes headed off the line.
The win took Silsden’s points tally to nine and to the relative safety of sixth from bottom, five points clear of the drop zone.
