Guiseley 1 Hednesford Twon 1

There looked to be only one winner as Guiseley hosted Hednesford in the UniBond Premier Division but, despite playing well, the hosts could not claim all three points.

The midlands outfit, managed by former Huddersfield forward Phil Starbuck, could even have won late on, although it would have been daylight robbery had a shot in stoppage time beaten Guiseley goalkeeper Steve Dickinson.

Scott Jackson put the home side in front in the 23rd minute when he converted Gavin Knight's cross with a powerful header.

Guiseley could have felt aggrieved for being denied the chance to add to their total from the penalty spot after Andy Wright seemed to be brought down in the area seven minutes before half-time.

Jason Alexandra equalised for Hednesford, a big physical side who favoured the direct route, midway through the second half - but only after several Guiseley moves had failed to fulfil their promise at the last moment.

"I thought we would do it, get the win I felt our play deserved, but it wasn't to be," said Guiseley boss Neil Parsley.

"We scored a great goal and defended well, apart from the set-pieces when Hednesford's aerial threat was apparent. They didn't have anyone who could cause us a problem but we gifted them a goal.

"The main thing is we have a clean bill of health for tonight's trip to Gateshead, by which I mean no fresh injuries, so I should have an unchanged squad."
