Worcester City 0 Farsley Celtic 1

The Celts did not exactly have the ideal preparation for this demanding Conference North away fixture as boss Lee Sinnott opted to trim what was a big squad after final training on Thursday.

Forwards Mark Bett and Kevin Sanasy and midfielder Andy Shields have all left the Throstle Nest outfit.

And Carl Serrant was named as club captain at the expense of Chris Stabb, who was still included in the starting line-up on Saturday.

"If you want to put the coat on and do the manager's job, you have to accept there will be tough choices to make at every twist and turn," said Sinnott.

"To get a result like this, considering all that upheaval just days before, says a lot about the remaining squad.

"It is a wonderful reaction by the players, considering all that had happened.

"It was a good win from a hard game, taking into account the exhausting, warm conditions, but the first thing I said to them after it was over was now go and get three points on Tuesday'. You cannot stand still in this game."

The Celts had definitely not rested for a second at Worces-ter and they had to go right to the wire as they grabbed the winner in stoppage time. It came from midfielder Dominic Krief, who was making his first start of the campaign.

He had completed more than 90 energy-sapping minutes but still had the stamina to fire a left-foot shot into the bottom corner.

Worcester, who topped the table the previous week but were second before the Celts' visit, had no time to respond.

Farsley had edged the contest so it was a just return. The first half had been quite even, before the visitors started to show signs of wanting the result more than their hosts.

A James Knowles effort hit the bar following a corner and then Serrant delivered a free-kick that Ryan Crossley failed to meet when he appeared to be pushed. Serrant whipped in a corner that Crossley netted but that was ruled out because someone was offside.
