City will be up against a stronger League Two next season.
Peter Jackson is relishing the chance to build his own team from scratch and wipe out the memory of a wretched last campaign.
But he admits they will be facing some decent competition with the sides who have joined the division.
“It’s close every year but I think with the size of the clubs going down that’s it’s going to be stronger next time,” said Jackson.
“You look at the likes of Plymouth and Bristol Rovers and I’m sure Dagenham will be up there again.
“I watched AFC Wimbledon the other day at Eastlands and they were strong. Then you’ve got Crawley coming in who spent more money than the whole division put together last year.
“They’ve got the financial clout but you can’t see a clear winner. Last year you could have probably picked Chesterfield to do well but I don’t think there’s an obvious one now.”
