Brighouse Town have begun interviewing potential successors to departing management duo Mark Brier and Darren Attwood.
Brier decided to take a sabbatical from the game once the season ended and Attwood felt it was the right thing to quit alongside the former boss and allow the new man to bring in his own assistant.
Town secretary Malcolm Taylor said: “The committee are doing another round of interviews tomorrow night and there could be a decision on the night, or they might decide to sleep on it and make the decision on Wednesday.
“I think they are very near to making an appointment and it will be known by Thursday. I have stacks of paperwork just waiting for a name to be filled in so I, for one, will be very pleased when they make their choice.
“Our chairman (Chris Lister) in going off on holiday on Thursday and he wants it all done before he goes.”
Thackley could follow in naming their new manager very soon. There were 11 serious contenders and they were whittled down to a shortlist of four towards the end of last week.
The other seven have been notified and thanked by the club for their interest. The four remaining candidates were asked to Dennyfield for interviews this week.
