With only a handful of games remaining to be played this week before the curtain comes down on the West Riding County Amateur League season, most of the promotion and relegation issues have been decided.

Tyersal Reserves’ two-season stay in Division One was ended on Saturday when they lost 4-1 to Bay Athletic Reserves.

Gareth Carney netted Tyersal’s consolation after Nathan James (2), Sam Jerome and Karl Jones had scored for the opposition.

At the top of the table, Littletown moved to within a point of the title, with James Sykes and Aiden Schofield scoring in their 2-1 success at Westbrook YMCA. AFC Emley, with a 6-1 win at Dudley Hill Rangers, ended their season in third place and, as Bay Athletic Reserves are ineligible for promotion, they could be promoted into the top flight for next season. Huddersfield-based Lepton Highlanders look like ending their first season in the league as the champions of Division Two.

After beating fellow league newcomers Long Lee 2-1, they now have three league games remaining to secure the two points they require to finish ahead of long- time leaders Storthes Hall Reserves, before meeting Long Lee in the Division Two Cup final on Monday, May 23.

Crag Road United finished their season with a 9-2 setback at Ovenden West Riding Reserves, with Damian Rushworth netting Crag's consolations. Campion Reserves, who have been playing on average three games a week since the start of April, will finish up in third after beating Crag 5-4 on Thursday night and Golcar United Reserves 4-2 on Saturday.

Having already clinched the Division Three title, Albion Sports Reserves added the Division Three Cup to their silverware on Friday evening at Littletown.

Goals came from Wayne Broxholme, Chris Gibbons, Daljit Singh and Jatinder Singh as they beat Lower Hopton Reserves 4-1 to complete the double.

The runners-up spot is still to be decided, with both Littletown and Marsden Reserves in contention.

* The match-based disciplinary syatem that the West Riding County Amateur League have been trialling for the last two seasons will be rolled out by the FA from the start of next season to all open-age Saturday and Sunday leagues.

A meeting to launch the system will be held at the FA’s Wembley headquarters on Monday, June 6 (7pm).

It will be hosted by television and radio presenter Mark Saggers and will be shown live on the internet. A number of important changes will be outlined, and questions can be asked live at the seminar on-line, and there will also be opinion polls.

For those who register for one of the 250 seminar places at Wembley, there will be a tour of the stadium.

Places can be booked via ttp://video.webexlivestream.com/events/webx001/38527/.

Questions on the seminar can be e-mailed to matchbased@thefa.com and it is vital that everyone involved understands the system.
