Peter Jackson insists City’s latest delve into non-league is a gamble well worth taking after snapping up his first signing.
Prolific striker Ross Hannah joined from part-timers Matlock on an initial year’s basis, although the club have an option to extend that as they did with David Syers.
And Jackson believes that, like Syers, the 23-year-old former landscape gardener can take the step up in class in his stride.
Hannah smashed 52 goals for the Evo-Stik League side last season; an incredible haul that included six hat-tricks and one SEVEN in an FA Trophy tie.
His tally is believed to be the highest in the country and the City interim boss was thrilled to beat off competition for him.
Jackson said: “There were six league clubs after him, including some Championship, and there were very good offers. But as soon as he came to Bradford City he knew it was for him."
