Peter Jackson will begin the latest rebuilding process at City today still unsure of what lies ahead for the club and himself.
Jackson is expected to announce the retained list after meeting the players whose contracts are up in the summer.
Omar Daley, Gareth Evans and Jon Worthington are among the dozen who will be told if they are still wanted at Valley Parade. Lenny Pidgeley, who was left out on Saturday, has already revealed that he is off.
Jackson intends to carry on as normal while the wait goes on to find out who will be permanent manager – and where City will be based.
He said: “There is a lot of uncertainty about so many things. But my future, until I’m told otherwise, is just to come in to work day in, day out.
“I’m speaking to the out-of-contract players today and then the rest tomorrow. I’m also planning pre-season and getting games ready. Somebody has to be here to plan it.”
Jackson felt “embarrassed” by the 5-1 home hammering from Crewe which condemned City to their lowest league finish in 45 years.
