Following a second relatively successful season, Thackley boss Dave Morgan has relinquished his post at Dennyfield, and similarly Mark Brier and his assistant Darren Attwood have stood down at Brighouse Town.
Morgan has almost legendary status in the area after playing in two FA Vase finals at Wembley for Guiseley and then helping Bradford Park Avenue gain promotion to the UniBond League before moving into coaching and management.
He moved from assistant manager at Silsden to the hot-seat at Thackley, and in the two seasons he has been in charge the Dennyboys have done well.
A fourth-place finish in his first year was a vast improvement for the club, and this year they were beaten finalists in the West Riding County Cup and finished eighth in the table.
The Dennyboys were only denied a trophy by the might of Blue Square North near-neighbours Guiseley, who won after extra time in the showpiece which this season was held at Valley Parade, and they were just eight points off a second top-four finish.
Brier is best known for his management and coaching skills, rather than as a player, and, likewise, he has done sterling work for the club he is leaving.
Brier has spells as under-19s manager, reserve and first-team coach, first-team manager, commercial manager and – at his former club Liversedge – even club chairman on his CV.
He was appointed by Brighouse three years ago and consolidated the club in their first season on the non-league ladder.
In his second season he, and Attwood, led the club to promotion to by-pass established semi-pro outfit Eccleshill United, who were Kool Sport Northern Counties East League Division One rivals at the time, and join the ranks of the Premier Division alongside Thackley, Sedge and Farsley AFC.
That period also saw Town qualify for and compete in the FA Cup for the first time in the club’s history.
Neither club has invited applications for the roles vacated but both have received them after word on the non-league grapevine spread rapidly.
