Farsley may have missed out on a treble this season but they claimed the classic double today when they added the Northern Counties East League Cup to the Premier Division championship.
It was a rearguard action for Farsley as they were reduced to ten men in only the second minute following a straight red card for skipper Dominic Krief following a challenge on James O’Neill.
They battled well despite their numerical disadvantage and, with extra-time looming, Ryan Watson netted the match-winning strike.
By that time both sides were down to ten men, Winterton losing leading scorer Liam Wilkin to a second yellow card ten minutes from time.
Wild celebrations began when Watson drilled his late shot into the bottom corner.
There were four minutes of injury-time played and the game became a little fractious but Krief was allowed to pick the cup up alongside Mark Jackson, who he had passed the captain’s armband to on his dismissal.
