Peter Jackson will resist the urge to turn to youth until City are totally safe.
Having moved six points away from the bottom two, it would need a freak turn of results to throw them back into trouble.
But Jackson wants to make absolutely sure before he starts tinkering with his starting line-up.
That means the likes of Dominic Rowe and Darren Stephenson, who have both been given a brief taste of first-team action by the interim boss, will not get the opportunity at Hereford on Saturday.
Jackson said: “I promised when I first came in that we would look at the young lads once we’re safe. Although there are only two games left, we’re still not automatically guaranteed safety.
“It’s a little bit disappointing that’s not the case yet but we need to make sure we go to Hereford and finish the job.
“Those other results could go against us. So we have to be positive and get something from that game and then we can look at things again.”
Jackson also refuted rumours that Tommy Doherty was refusing to play for City. The midfielder has not featured since undergoing ankle surgery in January.
