City were subjected to their own video nasty and then took a giant step towards League Two safety.
David Syers scrambled an 89th-minute winner against Aldershot to virtually guarantee survival this season.
The tense 2-1 victory followed a frank meeting with Peter Jackson the day before when the players were made to sit through a recording of Saturday’s horror show at Accrington.
Jackson said: “They all watched the DVD and I told them it was unacceptable. There’s no comeback when you watch it on the TV – we’d rolled over and they all agreed.
“They said one or two things which we wrote down and pinned up in the dressing room. But I just told them they’d let the club down and we needed a massive response. We got that yesterday and I can’t knock them..”
The only black mark for City was a first-half hamstring injury to Michael Flynn that will rule out the skipper for the final fortnight of the season.
