Padiham 2, Silsden 0 Having secured their status in the top flight of the Vodkat League over recent weeks, Silsden’s revival was tested with a trip to eighth-placed Padiham in the Premier Division and it proved to be a reality check.

The high-flying home side proved to be too strong for the rejuvenated Cobbydalers and they cantered to victory.

With Edward O’Neill and Paul Fildes both on such good form for the Lancastrians, it was always going to be difficult for the visitors.

However, it did take the home side a long time to break Silsden’s stoic rearguard action. The deadlock was eventually broken 17 minutes from time and a second goal soon followed.

The first goal came when O’Neill curled a cross in behind the visitors’ defence and, though the first attacker failed to make contact, Stuart Telfer got his knee to the ball to send it in.

Less than two minutes later, it was 2-0 when Martin Parkes nipped in at the far post following another searching cross.

Matty Kershaw and Kevin Ryan were on the end of some good moves from the Cobbydalers but to no avail.
