Farsley AFC had already been confirmed Kool Sport Northern Counties East League champions but underlined their quality with a 3-1 victory in their final Premier Division fixture.

Lincoln Moorlands Railway were the side who visited Throstle Nest with the opportunity of dampening Farsley’s title celebrations.

It was a mission they were never likely to complete but they certainly gave the hosts a game.

Railway went into the break a goal to the good after Nathan Adams had headed in from a third-minute corner. Farsley were much better after the interval and soon levelled when Ben Jones netted at the second attempt.

Roy Stamer added a sensational second goal with a 35-yard volley from a wide position just after the hour mark.

Gareth Grant completed the scoring when he collected a through-ball and slid his shot under the Lincoln keeper.

The trophy was presented to Farsley after the game and they were able to parade it in front of a sizeable home crowd.

Meanwhile, BRIGHOUSE TOWN earned a point from a goalless draw at Long Eaton United which will give them heart before they end their season next Saturday at home to Lincoln Moorlands.

THACKLEY’S hopes of a second successive top-four finish were dealt a blow by a 2-1 home defeat to Armthorpe Welfare.

Matt Morgan put the Dennyboys in front from the penalty spot in the 12th minute after the visiting keeper brought down Nicky Matthews.

Armthorpe were on terms by the break as Henry Sibenge fired in during a goalmouth scramble. The Doncaster outfit’s late winner followed in similar fashion as substitute Craig Wilkinson netted after two shots had been blocked.

LIVERSEDGE also suffered a 2-1 home loss as relegation-threatened Hallam snatched a dramatic winner deep into stoppage time.

Aaron Moxon broke the deadlock midway through the first half with a fierce shot but the hosts turned around all square after a 39th-minute penalty incident.

Lamin Colley was brought down in the area and Andy Philp converted the resulting spot-kick.

But Sedge were denied a point in the third minute of time added on as Moxon let fly into the top corner and maintained the visitors’ slim hope of avoiding the drop.

ECCLESHILL UNITED emerged 3-2 winners in their mid-table Division One clash at Teversal after falling behind to an early strike.

Joel Smith put the home side in front in the 11th minute but a Marcus Edwards reply just before the break and a goal from manager Ian Banks’ son Oliver immediately after the interval turned the game in the visitors’ favour.

Teversal hit back through Mitchell Slawson with five minutes remaining but Scott Price restored the Eagles’ advantage seconds later.
