Lee Bullock column

Hearing stories about a possible move away from Valley Parade makes you realise the position the club are in.

As players, nobody wants a relegation on their CV, especially from the bottom league. So the pressure is already on.

But then you realise what a catastrophe it would for the club in general. The whole future is depending on you surviving.

None of us know the ins and outs but we all understand the two chairmen pay a massive rent for the ground. One person seems to be getting a very good deal out of this – and it’s not Bradford or the fans.

Things have changed since the lease was first signed and the recession has bitten hard.

I’m sure there are millions of landlords around the country having to reduce prices. Unfortunately that’s not the case with us.

It probably seemed a good deal originally and I think everybody thought that the club would be back up again, at least in the Championship, by now. But as we know, that’s not been the case.

We’ve got the chairmen footing a huge bill every year for a League Two club. The overheads have stayed the same regardless of whether we’re playing Manchester United or Accrington Stanley on Saturday.

I’m no expert but it seems like they are getting a rough deal. We just hope something can change.

It was nice to play again at Southend and although the result was poor, personally I thought it went all right. I’d never played centre half in the first team before.

I was disappointed not to get picked again on Tuesday but the team’s situation is more important right now than one player being unhappy.

It was a definite point gained against Burton. From the second he came on, Speighty looked like he was going to score and hopefully he’ll kick on from getting the goal.

At the other end, Lenny Pidgeley made an unbelievable save to tip the ball on to the bar. That was just as big as scoring and could be a massive turning point in our season.

By the way, could someone in the Kop please return Omar’s left leg from that cross he attempted and missed totally. We reckon it’s about 20 rows back!
