Leeds manager Simon Grayson has challenged his players to show their desire in training as competition for places in the final four matches of the season intensifies.
Grayson made four changes for Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Watford and hinted there may be more on the way in Friday night’s home encounter with Reading.
The remaining matches – against the Royals, Crystal Palace, Burnley and QPR – will determine whether United qualify for the play-offs and Grayson said: “We have four massive games left for individuals and the club.
“We have to get the players lively again. They have to show the attitude to get into the team.
“Sometimes players impress you in training and Davide Somma has done that. He has caught the eye with the way he has worked in training and that is one of the reasons he came into the team on Saturday.”
United should learn today or tomorrow the outcome of a scan on the knee injury collected by top scorer Luciano Becchio after he came on and netted against Watford.
It will be a massive blow if the Argentinian striker is sidelined at this vital stage of the campaign.
