Tadcaster Albion 3, Farsley 4 Farsley A Ben Jones hat-trick earned Farsley the three points that all but secured them the Kool Sport NCEL Premier Division title on Saturday.
Only a remarkable sequence of results can deny the Throstle Nest side after they won a seven-goal thriller at fourth-placed Tadcaster Albion to maintain their 11-point lead.
Neil Parsley’s team need a point from their final game at home to Lincoln Moorlands on Saturday to guarantee the crown but their current tally of 82 should be enough.
Only third-placed Bridlington Town can match that but they would need to win their four games in hand and overturn goal difference of 21 to finish above Farsley.
Jones got the ball rolling with his first before the half-hour and he soon added his second before Lee Connor headed the visitors into a three-goal interval lead.
Taddy fought back when Terry Taylor cut the advantage before a handball in Farsley’s area saw Marc Thompson drill in a second from the penalty spot.
Minutes later there was a handball offence in the home area and Jones completed his treble before Nick Thompson headed in from the edge of the area to ensure a tense finale.
